I'm optimistic too. And I like art generation better than you did. I plan to use it a lot to help me with designs for my glass mosaics. If they come thru on 90% of what they promised, they'll sell out the store and up their market share. And I would expect surprisingly cool capabilities coming month after month for the next few years.

I hope when they make the AI for the photos app when you want to edit a photo you can just ask Siri hey can you brighten the background lower sharpness on my face and take out any pimple on my face and it just does it… that would be awesome

Ipads should never be treated like laptop replacements. If one day mac os was efficiently implemented into the device without battery life and memory compromise, maybe it would make sense. For me personally, I store both my large ipad pro and macbook inthe same travel case. I then use my ipad as a second monitor if I need to. The two compliment each other.

Well, if Apple never put M series chips on the ipads in the first place, ppl would never have higher expectations. putting a powerful desktop ARM chip on the tablet will obviously cause ppl to have higher expectations, Apple can't blame the public (us the users and consumers) for demanding a desktop-like OS. They should've just sticked with A13x, A14x, A15x and A16x chips for the iPad Air and Pro with 8gb or more ram that's it, then ppl would never demand desktop-level OS in the first place, just some pro-level apps that's it.

Well, since Apple will not let new iPads run MacOS, this is pretty much a useless comparison. Only a select few applications are available on both MacOS and iPadOS so it limits possible use cases. So even if a iPad with keyboard was way cheaper than a MacBook Air it wouldn’t matter.

Here’s the biggest fact: the iPad keyboard is dundundundundun an ACCESSORY. What does that mean? That means the keyboard is not a part of the core experience. If all you need is a simple word editor or something that works better with a keyboard, the iPad easily wins. Ask yourself what you use the most after work. I know for a fact that once work ends, I put down my MacBook and spend the rest of my time on the iPad. Now if I wasn’t using a MacBook for work, iPad easy win. My MacBook “school’ edition is still sitting on my desk untouched because I don’t want to use a laptop for casual stuff. There’s no use case during my spare time where I wanna touch my MacBook. Well unless if game support becomes bigger in the future, I’ll stick to my windows computer

I sell Apple devices, as well as other tech, and after several years almost no one expects to use the iPad as a full laptop replacement. But RUclips commentators keep trying to make this argument.

But now there’s Apple Intelligence. The A14 chipset won’t make it. So it’s better to buy a newer iPad (Air or Pro) ❤

I think it’s because you get a Mac for a price cheaper than most decent chromebooks. I would personally buy that over a chromebook because you get macOS instead of chromeOS. What do you think?

Why doesn’t anyone mentions the issue of hotspot if always keeps turning off automatically

This entire 20 min video is pointless. Ipads and especially IpadOs simply do not provide even a remotely comparable functionality than Macos does. It makes no sense that ipads come with essentially the same SOC's as mac book airs but still are limited to the utterly inferior ipados. You cannot code on that tablet. you cannot run browser extensions. The finder in ipados (if you could even call it that) is nowhere near as useful as the one in macos. Ipads simply cannot be used as laptop replacements, even though their hardware would have no issues running much more demanding applications.

I bought an iPad mini 6 new for three purposes/reasons... 1. using Google Maps and Translate while travelling 2. it fits in my fanny pack 3. many apps I want to use are not optimized for my MacBook Air 4. as an ebook reader 5. the base model was on sale at Walmart 6. I like Apple Care extended warranty 7. I like how I can easily get international service 8. I can easily hold it in portrait mode in one hand Q: What is the best tablet? A: The one you always have with you However, I prefer the price and narrower shape of mid-range Samsung tablets.

About 12 years ago I used a regular iPad for college/university. The camera allowed me to take a picture of a slide right into an app and annotate it. Couldn’t do that with the MacBook Air, and you still cannot. Simply because it’s not meant to do that. For students, depending on the study, an iPad with a cheaper keyboard folio might be all that’s needed. Mostly depending on the software of course. The free iWork apps are a huge plus though, so that you don’t get bought into the very costly Microsoft Office ecosystem. You can save that for work, later on in the career.

I’ve only ever purchased the keyboard for the first iPad Pro and barely used it. I don’t buy keyboards anymore. My iPad use doesn’t need a keyboard.

I don’t know if anyone will respond but I have a question that’s probably dumb but I have the iPhone 13 that I pre ordered when it came out my question is if I upgrade to the 16 pro max would it be considered I kept it 2 years or would it be considered 3 years I kept it

An ipad os an ipad, and will never get a macbook replacement. My advice, get both, and a gaming PC.. even better, also get an ipad mini for reading books.

Wow, shock. The better laptop is… the laptop. This should surprise no one. People buy tablets because they want a tablet, not because they want a laptop.

i would recommend a windows laptop than the macbook air. if macbook air has the touch or pen capability, i would recommend it.

The only thing that people always over look is that the Ipad is literally a giant touch screen, there is absolutely no MacBook with that capability and that means that for professionals that are more in the creative field benefit immensely from the Apple Pencil, not to mention the fact that the Ipad is FAR MORE VERSATILE than a laptop. On top of that is how user friendly an iPad is, you can literally give it to a kid or an elderly person and they’ll know how to use it. If the iPad had something similar to MacOS it would eliminate the need for MacBook Air entirely (The Pro would Probably still be around)

MacOS is just in a league on its own. Until iPad OS inherit majority of its traits it will be behind iOS too. I tried editing numbers on my M4 iPad Pro and it sucks. Nowhere close to the one in MacOS.

There is a frenzy of RUclipsrs ragging on these new iiPads. I will use is WITH my MacBook and WITH a Windows Surface, all doing different jobs. Just because you sit behind a camera thinking of how to use these things isn’t the same as using them productively. For me it will be note taking (so thin and light it will be lighter than my early 11inch iPad Pro, with more real estate and a much better pen). And illustrate for lectures. This “reviewers” are so “sure” of themselves. The appearance of AI sealed the deal. But can they imagine a use case? Will last me a bunch of years, thank you!

The MacBook Air is gorgeous and i love it for many people but iPad is the one for me and it has a built in keyboard so no need for the magic keyboard plus i like iPadOS batter then MacOS

Another great video Greg !...The iPhone 13's processor the A15 Bionic chip that is getting ios18 but not Apple Intelligence has the equivalent processing power of the M1 which is getting the "Apple Intelligence" feature...It even has the same Neural Engine as the M1 all iPhones sold since including the iPad mini 6 Apple needs to get this out of beta and in people's hands that's paid for this processing power. I gave up on the macbook after several atempts. iPads come with so many things macbooks lack (inbuild keyboard, camera, touch screen half the weight etc..

The ipad can substitute a laptop being about 85% as good, it will loose on everything a laptop does, because it isn't a laptop, but it will do everything anyone I know, outside the ones working on design and very specific parts of tech, do with a laptop, maybe a few engineers or architects too, but you'll be surprised on how many can get by on an iPad, and again you'll be surprised that the people that don't work on those fields are actually way over 90% of the people in the world, funny how people on RUclips pretend that everyone needs to edit 4k videos with tons of effects on a daily basis, they don't, and if they do it eventually, an ipad will probably cut it, although it will take longer and miss a few effects. Let's face it, the question isn't if an iPad can be as good as a laptop on all fields, because it can't, the question is if an iPad can be a full office and content consumption machine, which is 99% of the use of any macbook AIR , and the answer is yes. On the other hand, there are infinitely more people that actually need to take a note or sign a contact, than people that need to edit a video, or use Autocad, or even Adobe full applications instead of mobile ones, also reading a book is something that far far more people do than doing any professional stuff, and that's way better on an iPad. And let's not forget that most of the stuff that people keep saying a macbook Air is better than an iPad are absolutely better suited for a MacBook PRO, if you work with any pro APP, get a freaking macbook pro M1, 2 or 3 with 16gb of ram minimum, maybe even 32gb, if you don't have the money, sell your phone, get a pre paid one, get a few shifts on a fast food joint, get a refurbished one, because it will be your JOB tool, you need to invest.

This is simple, so listen up. Apple goes off of what their "RUclips influencers" tell them so since people have been bragging for years how amazing the iPad's are why should Apple even care about iPad OS? All these RUclipsr's fail to grow a set and tell Cook and company (like videos MKBHD & iJustine have put out videos talking to Apple's top brass) that iPad OS has been a disaster for years now and only talk about the hardware so Apple just continues along giving lack luster updates like this year when they update 2 fucking apps and call it a "OS" update! Pathetic just like these people who claim to know anything about technology, more like know how to get videos views and talk Apple up like the best thing since sliced bread. That's about it.

I don't know why people buy that dang keyboard. Most people use their iPads for media consumption, note taking, or book reading. I get people want the duality but these aren't cheap devices and if you want more bang for your buck definitely getting the MacBook Air.
